About UniRank
Our Mission
University rankings influence millions of student decisions every year, yet few people understand what these numbers actually measure. Our mission is to provide transparent, data-driven analysis of ranking methodologies across QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE), Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU / Shanghai), and U.S. News Global Universities.
We examine how different weighting schemes, indicator choices, and data sources produce different results — and what that means for students choosing universities, researchers evaluating institutions, and policymakers designing higher education systems.
What We Cover
- Ranking methodology deep-dives (QS Employer Reputation, THE Citations Impact, ARWU Nobel/Fields weighting)
- Year-over-year ranking shift analysis and trend identification
- Regional and national ranking performance comparisons
- Data visualization of ranking volatility and stability
- Critical examination of ranking limitations and biases
Our Standards
All analysis is based on publicly available ranking data, academic research on bibliometrics, and official methodology documentation from ranking organizations. We do not create our own rankings; we help readers understand existing ones.
