THE World University Rankings 2025 · Full Analysis
The THE World University Rankings 2025 rank over 1,900 institutions across 108 countries. Oxford retained #1 for the ninth consecutive year.
Key findings: US/UK continue to dominate the top 10 (Oxford, Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Cambridge, Princeton, Caltech, Imperial, Berkeley, Yale). China’s Tsinghua (#12) and Peking (#14) continue to close the gap. The University of Melbourne is Australia’s highest-ranked at #39.
THE scores universities on Teaching (29.5%), Research Environment (29%), Research Quality (30%), International Outlook (7.5%), and Industry (4%). Research Quality is now the largest single component, reflecting THE’s shift toward citation-based metrics. Institutions strong in medical/health sciences benefit disproportionately — medical research produces high-citation papers that lift the overall citation score.
